these things are awesome, I think Im gonna get two one for the front and one for the rear. NOOOOOOOTTTT. I think this is totally useless and in no way increase performance or stability. it installs into a carpet not the frame.

Would you buy this?
or save your money and keep the leg room.

Ok, just for a little perspective.
Some years back a car magazine sought to reduce the weight of a Civic Si by removing all the weight they could. They took the insulation, headliner, radio and all ot the usual items as well as a "crossbar" they thought was just an overkill on safety. IIRC the bar ran across the interior floor and was a chassis support that they concluded was better re-installed for rigidity. So... this part may not have the engineering that went into the civic's part, but there is some information that would make the concept at least worth discussion. Do M5's have any additional structural components unique to their construction? Now whether a street driven 5-series would derive any benefit from this, well...

I have used this kind of bar before....albeit not on a e60.
The Nissan/Honda world uses them a lot. They do in fact add lateral rigidity to the shell. I would never run it in my E60 as it just wouldn't go with the car...and would kill rear passenger comfort. The E60 is a 4 door car with a lot of flex (ever here your panels/doors creak when making a turn onto a incline/decline)
