i always thought the stock hood was fiber plastic and to what i undertsand the cf hood wont be that much lighter if its a good quality one. I think getting rid of the spare tyre and lighter set of alloy wheels and if you are over weight a few weeks of Atkins (worked for me) makes the car much lighter ......

fyi, e60 hoods are made from LTW aluminum it will be the same weight with any carbon fiber overlayed fiberglass aftermarket ones (if there'd be any in the future, and if its double sided carbon fiber hood even more heavier than the oem)

None of the aftermarket companies in the world can afford to do the Real carbon/kevlar material thats stronger
than steel (ex:M3,M5 front support bar behind the front bumper cover)

only exclusive race cars would have that kind of construction made for race use, such as; mclaren f1,enzo,buggati,panoz.

its an interesting idea for show cars but for real life driving its delicate to have for daily drive.

my 0.02..

If that's the case, CF would help reduce a lot of weight for the front, but good stuffs comes with a price.
If it saves 30lbs+, it would worth while to be consider. But the first thing to cut weight is get rid of spare in the trunk (30lbs?)
In HK we dont have the spare in the back.
maybe I get 1 and then my car is close to 50/50.

As surprised as I am, that looks pretty good on an E60. The vents look really nice on the hood. Amazing!!
