Hi,

I like to know is there a shop that sells or can make Carbon Fiber bonnet (hood)
I have been looking for this for a long time,
can any one help?

do you plan to put this on your e60? I think its not a good idea, it'll make the car look too much like a japanese import car... but again its your choice, if you think it looks nice, then go for it, i'ld be interested to see it... sorry for commenting without any helpful info, but why don't you try the HK sub forum?

They're coming out with carbon fiber components for the M5 so if they make a CF hood, it should fit a reg E60.

i remember someone here did a PhotoShop for CF hood on E60. Could not find the pic. It can give you an idea how it looks like on E60.
E60 hood is already aluminum, so I don't know how much weight it's going to save by using CF.

I'm not sure if CF can stand E60 engine heat dissipation. It's really really hot.

yes you are right but I am going to paint the carbon bonnet not showing the carbon skin just like the Ferrari. If I dont do that then yes it will look very cheep just like the japanese cars.
I only what to get it to make the car lighter and it will be true 50/50.

I think heat is OK because I have seen people puting carbon engine covers and carbon air intakes in the e60.
The e60 is not 100% 50/50 the back is light than the front so if I put this on it will be closer to 50/50 not 100% thank I need to take it to fine turning shop.

yes I have ask this shop 2 years ago and they said that they are making 1 but that was 2 years ago.
so I don`t know if they will make 1.
I also ask them 3 months ago and they said the some thing. "we are making them"

CF blends better with black, blk sapphire or carbon blk car. You need to find out how much weight you save by switching to CF.

You can paint CF any color, that's what pinquhk is doing. As for heat dissipation, most race cars have carbon fiber bodies and those engines get way hotter than ours.

If that's the case, CF would help reduce a lot of weight for the front, but good stuffs comes with a price.
If it saves 30lbs+, it would worth while to be consider. But the first thing to cut weight is get rid of spare in the trunk (30lbs?)
