can you actually cut springs??

My Ride: E60 520i
installed breyton springs few months back.. not very happy with the drop especially with the rear... is it ok to cut the springs? or should i just go with coilovers?

springs can be cut but it should be done by someone that is a pro, otherwise your suspension will be screwed

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
you can, but it's not really advisable for two reasons.
Firstly it's a safety issue, as it needs to be assured they sit correctly in the spring seats after cutting.
The second problem you might find is that usually lowering springs are progressively wound, meaning their characteristics get harder the more pressure (e.g. fast corners) is put on them to reduce body roll.
If you take away the first bit, it could completely take away any standard ride quality, as you could well be on the harder bit and only banging along.

Definately wouldn't recommend you to cut the springs.. it will affect the springs performance totally...
why not go for coilovers? PSS9 perharps?
