i'm looking into purchasing a used 2003 18"x8 M3 magnesium rim as a spare since we might move away from using run-flats to regular tires. would this rim fit on our car?

scratch this question. it looks like we're gonna go back to buying a new set of run-flats.

No, but I see where you're going with this. Maybe it would be wise to get a spare. Ok, I guess the question is back up. So, will this rim fit on a 2008 535i?

You'll need either a hub adapter or a spacer ring. The hub bore is different size from the e39 to e60

Bavarian auto has them listed for 340!?!? for the spare tire. Perhaps a scrap yard might have one.
