Hi, I just wanted to verify -- do you have the Magnaflow 16559 cat-back exhaust installed or was it custom fabricated by a shop? Curious because a couple of other members have the 16559 and mentioned that they did not experience droning.

Nevermind, I just noticed GForza's reply and viewed the pics again. It's not a 6559 system.
I am actually experiencing power loss, hesitation and some wicked gurgling sounds upon manual downshifts (6MT). That said, I haven't seen people putting two magnaflows in when they replace their stock system. I will put the resonator in by the y-pipe and see what happens. Hopefully that alleviates the sound issue and my power loss, bad fuel economy and sluggish throttle response is something else. Thanks for your thoughts.

A couple questions: Do you have resonated tips on the end? And what diameter is the exhaust pipe?
The Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator will help you immensly. I have heard about them quieting down loud popping. etc.
As for noise. Take notice to your stock exhaust.. You have two 14 inch rear sections at the rear, two cats and a resonator. Your magnaflow exhaust looks to be 14 inches and the pipe has no resonators.
Just looking the pictures provided, your bends are not as smooth as the factory exhaust and the pipe diameter seems to be the same. The 550 seems to benefit from some back pressure, so your power loss is definitely on the low end. Your high end should be better. Your exhaust is almost identical to the Magnaflow 550i system.

I lose power (would almost describe it as a hesitation shudder) between 2500/3500 RPM. Ironically, it reminds me of an issue with my N54 powered 535i (which forced me to sell), so it is pretty annoying, to be sure.
So does everything think that I can simply add another maganflow muffler after the to-be-installed resonator, after the y-pipe?

Vibrant Ultra Quiet 2.5 installed! Had my guy cut a section after the Y-pipe and I am pleased with the results so far. Car is much quieter at idle and at crusing speed (much less drone), but still retains its magnaflow throatiness when you get on it. Ultimately, I want to go to dual exhaust, so I will probably replace with center muffler and run straight pipes to resonated tips at some point.
