Well the double stick tape holding my ACS style rear spoiler failed on Saturday and it came crashing to the ground when my wife pushed on it to shut the trunk. I immediately got some solvent and took off the tape residue to clean it up.

I love the way the spoiler looks on the car but I don't want to merely use dpuble stick tape and have it come flying off again. Is there any kind of binding agent that will mount it secure but still be easily removed at lease end without damaging the paint?

Yes, Scott, there is. I used some stuff called Goop from any autoparts store. It is a silicone based adhesive similar to the stuff used to secure the emblems on our cars. It doesn't damage paint, it secures the spoiler, and removal is the same procedure as the debadge - fishing line or floss will take it off and a little acetone to remove any residue. Just make sure to take the wax/polish off the area with some dish soap first and then tape the spoiler down until the adhesive dries. You can be generous in the application of the adhesive because until it is fully cured you can rub off any excess with a dry towel

bmw uses betalink and it holds great, its an oem product and also comes with a bottle of remover. This is what I used on both my roof and trunk spoiler

My M5 spoiler was affixed with ONLY tape too, but it is ROCK solid! I can only imagine that either the tape used on your spoiler or the actual application of it were to blame, but put it back on, it looks great!

Sorry to hear that, Scott. That spoiler would find any reasons to be OFF. Maybe it is meant to be FREE. And it is my fault that I let it sit and do nothing in the garage too long.

It does look great. I don't think it is the tape or the application. 3 different shops tried to put it on. The fitment is not great according to all 3 shops and, as a result, one side keeps trying to pull up. Because of that issue, it would need some sort of bonding agent to work and stay down. Betalink sounds like it.

I am not sure if I am going to give it another go at mounting it. I have spent too much time and money getting it to fit. If I give it a go, it will be with a bonding agent, that's for sure.
