Hi Everyone,

Been thinking about this for a while.

I have a june 05 model with Business Nav, Bluetooth and I pod.

E bay has a april 04 (manufacture date) Pro so I think that would be a suitable unit to fit?

My motor was in BM 3 months back where they did programming and updates to the latest software so am guessing now this might make it easier to think about the install. I fancy doing it myself and have read opinions that it not too hard to do. As I already have the microphone (for the phone) wired in I am hoping it will make the job pretty straightforward.

A few questions for you more experienced out there...

1. If my car's been updated recently by BM does that make coding for the pro nav easier/faster/straightforward, or, is updating the `brain' selective I need to get some specific nav updates before I attempt to do anything

2. What's the best aftermarket disk to get (with speed camera alert). Was told that some disks install an older software version and is a backwards step (but I don't know if that was sales pressure)

3. Once installed (but before being coded) will any elements of the I drive work?

4. Any ideas on a coding price?

I can't seem to find a guide on the project so opinions welcome. I have already spoken to NavTV but as I am 200 miles north I was weighing up the DIY option?

Thanks guys

Hi there!

I am about to do the same...just received a Pro Nav screen and CCC unit from ebay.

Not sure what else is required for my Dec 06 530d...I've got Bluetooth also so Mic is already set up, as is "speak" button on Steering wheel, so not sure if I need to upgrade the iDrive controller?!?

Can anyone assist?

- The controller that you guys have now for the business nav will NOT work properly for the professional nav, you will scroll like a mad man (like 10 scrolls for one clik, i've been there ).
- The DVD's will not install any software, it only runs on the (3) disc's (BMW Roadmap Professional EU 2011), it's the newer CIC that loads the nav software to it's HD.
- It's not becausse you have the 'speak' button on the stearingwheel (everybody does) that you have the speak-function, there is a second speakbutton on the center trim next to the iDrive (High) and a mic under the mirror if you have that function. Did you ever push the speak button to test it?
- Here the stealer asks 125 ? to 150 ? for one codingsession.

Thanks for the feedback Sas.

My 'speak' button on the steering wheel works. I can press it and say a person's name from my address book in bluetooth phone mode, and it will call the person, and I can also dial numbers by saying the numbers etc.

What is the point of the second speaker button on the centre trim? Will this serve no purpose once the CCC unit is installed?

If I need a controller High, anyone know where I can buy one?

I am also concidering this option...

I have a E60 530i SE 2004 with Business Sat Nav ( single dvd / CD slot - 6.5" screen ) with Telematics bluetooth and cradle in the arm rest , and speak function working.

I going to get the CIP / Progman updated by a BMW dealer as i need MP3 playback , text and CD changer working as well as my 2010-1 Business Sat nav disc doesn't work due to having a very old CIP / Progman Firmware

The `High I drive' is £290, even if you have bluetooth phone with the mic I have been told that you need a second mic for the voice control (and £300 for the activation code). I went through a lot of the items http://www.soscl.co.uk/e60navretro.pdf with a BMW dealer who said a lot isn't available anymore

It's will be a tough one to do unless the CCC, High I Drive and Monitor appear as a package - even then I don't think the install will be to slick. I guess that's why I can't find a full insall guide on a forum....

Think I will end up getting one a specialist that's doing a package

The second speaker button is there for lazy people , you dont realy need it.

Try to search on eBay for the iDrive controller High, bought mine for 150 Euro
