- It seems that the latest TV tuner can have analog and digital ? But no TEXT. So we need to have the settop box for TEXT ?
Can we add to the latest TV tuner an AV ?
- What is TV5 drive ?

Technical update on DVD/TV (144 views)
Message: BMW has three optional modules (One for Europe, One for Japan and One for Both plus Rear Entertainment) that work with the CCC computer (Nav Pro = #609). Outside the US you can order those module with the car (opt #601), but in the US it is illegal to offer any video/TV viewing in the front of the car, so BMWNA doesn't offer these modules. The modules have 2 TV decoders and allow DVDs in the Nav DVD drive to be viewed on the CID (Idrive display). According to the documentation I reviewed, it should be possible to install those modules in cars with Nav with minimum wiring modifications (all E60s have 2 TV antennas in rear window) and the TV Module talks to the CCC via the MOST optical interface present near the location of the TV module (rear left bottom of trunk). The catch, is that the module is likely to cost $1-2K (in Europe it is a 900Euro option at time of purchase) and you will need the Dealer to re-program your CCC to recognize the TV Module.

Once you have installed the TV module, you can install the DVD Changer ($2000 as part) and use it to choose from many DVDs or CDs.

If you get the 3rd version of the TV Module (called TV 5 Drive), you can install the rear console monitor ($2000 as a part) and the rear headset module ($390 part) to allow your rear passenger to enjoy TV or DVDs.

- what is rear entertainment wiring kit ? It seems that we can connect rear screens on it
- What is 198 iceLink: iPod FactoryFit-Set for BMW (with iDrive) ?

Yep. Latest Tv tuner is analog AND digital without text. For text you need the settop box.
AV input with BMW Individual rear entertainment package only, currently.
Still don't know about the AUX Input on the settop box, if it's an AV or whatever...
