I build this intake for my 530i with a E39 intake kit i had laying around.
I took the box out and examine the cutting area, and sure enough
i had a 1/2 in lip clearance all around to cut.
and grind down the area where there are extra plastic that
gets in the way of me putting the intake coupling on.Talk about
a HUGE difference the car makes, it actually pulls harder than before.
A Pull you can Diffenently feel
Also I reset my tranny adaptation just incase it needs to relearn
the new increase air flow and my heavy foot on the throttle
of getting on it.( yall know the hold down 30 sec gas pedal trick)
with key on deal.

DAMN! clean that engine bay man... its D-I-R-T-Y!

i dont know why intakes cost over $200+

its just a pipe with a filter at the end... a K&N cone filter costs about $50... so they're charging $225 for a bent piece of aluminum pipe and a rubber fitting...???? i dont think so... but some people pay it so thats why they charge it.

Actually the kit that fits and made for the E60 with the mass air flow to fit in by AFE cost more than 275.
the E39 kit only cost on Ebay for like 20 bucks.

they are widening the roads where i live at right now,
road construction all over the place.
doesnt matter how many times i clean the engine in about a
month it looks bad again, so i just stopped wasting my time.

I thought the idea was to pull in cold air. That intake sucks in hot air, doesn't it? Heat soaking the engine. Here is mine from my 911. Notice the 2 snorkels for cold air.

you can't see in my pix but in front of the Intake the duct from my front bumper routes right infront of it.
and the duct from my M5 front bumper lower left driver side goes up to that same duct cold air is rammed
up there . i understand the cold air part cause my Gallardo has them right in front of my tail light, where the
louvers at.
