Interesting...what make are they and how much? They are definately way brighter than other single bulb applications, but to lose the ring/halo/angel eye effect at night due to the sheer brightness is a shame! The rings should look their best at night, not day, IMO.
This solution is only for LCI / H8 angel eyes.. not our lowly 2004-2007 cars..
Not to deter anyone toward my solution as there are other bulb replacement solutions out there that are more than appropriate for some peoples needs and budgets, but the dangers of putting an HID kit inside the AE position of the headlight are very apparent. BMW electrical systems are sensitive and wired up to very precise specifications. The amperage that those HIDs pull on that circuit, is not what it was designed for. I know of cars with plenty of cash in damage due to overloading circuits that werent meant to be ran under so much load. Resistance was caused and over time it will just make things fail.
It truly is a very unappealing solution due to these dangers. it still doesn't light up the external ring properly in real life, and unless your at perfect eye level you don't see light thru that ring only a hue change, like all the bulb replacement solutions for the most part. Also the HID is so damn bright that it looks like a huge mess inside your headlights at night. That plus double the heat sounds like a bad idea in my book. LEDs draw a miniscule fraction and way under the specs of the circuit.
As a matter of fact I have a buddy with his E92M3 at the dealer right now, with a clusterfuk of electrical damage because of an HID AE kit.
Also the problem with all the representations of these solutions on the internet is that cameras pick up light much different than out eyes would, so it kinda cheats at showing you how they really look in real life. some of the really early solutions showed pics that were very promising and then you get it and you cant see them during the day at all, or the inner ring is lit and the outer ring is a mess. not what the picture depicted at all! They are getting more efficient with the current models of bulbs though so I'm sure there's at least one or two of the latest versions that are decent.
But ultimately It's just physics and BMW using 80's fiberoptic technology to light up rings...lol Replacing the tech with a light emitting ring will yield the nicest controlled result no matter what. and the impact of these LED rings is amazing, it will make your ride be seen during the day like the new Audi's sporting the LED drls. Its a gorgeous effect.
I will let you know as soon as I have the E60 solved. shouldn't be any more than a week or two counting that i receive the guinea pig headlights for testing.
excuse the rant..LOL

its possible for example i no longer have use for my fogs so i could wire my angel eyes with an HID kit via the wiring thats there for my fogs but i didnt do it because of the fact that at night time you wont see the angel eyes when they are on with low beams f**k it i might do it when i get my car back from the shop now that im thing about it lol and just drive with angel eyes on all the time
I was thinking of the same thing and tried to figure out a way.. but not luck, also the light is going to be all crazy in the headlight and wont be in the ring but everywhere else. LOL

Wait, how come the led light wont be only coming from the ring on pre-lci's??
As for the LED Solution, that looks the best. =)
