Brake rotors

Default Brake rotors

I have a big lip on my brake rotors and I think it is time to replace them soon I like the OEM rotors with the aluminum or whatever metal it is because it does not rust. I would like to have drills rotors just for look but as I see there are no drilled OeM ones for 545i. Can someone recommend a good aftermarket brand with drilled and cap that does not rust? Can I just buy Genuine Brembo rotors? I am willing to pay more then the OEM but do not want to get crap rotor that will wrap and rust.

I bought and installed Stoptech drilled rotors with a black e-coating on the hat and vane edge of the rotor. No rust on the hat and very reasonably priced (I paid about $380 for a set). Check on Tire Rack for them. Of course, you already know that all rotors will rust on the braking surface and within the drilled holes and slots. Only problem is the pads can't clean the rust out of the slots and holes...

we carry aftermarket rotors that can be drilled. other options include slotted, and both drilled and slotted. sent you a PM.

Unless you are tracking your car (and building up substaintial heat), the decrease in surface area on the rotors (due to the holes and slots) will actually make your brakes perform worse, as braking action is directly based on force applied to the surface area of the pads against the surface area of the rotors.

Aftermarket drilled rotors are also prone to cracking, especially when they are drilled by untrained technicians. There is also various internet chatter about better rotors being cast with the holes and not drilled at all and that drilling is inferior.

Of course, this is also one of the great debates of the internet. Playstation vs. XBox. Android vs. iPhone. You get the idea. For every ten threads that blast drilled rotors, there's another ten that love them. Plus, I can't deny that drilled and/or slotted rotors don't look sportier.
