Sup all,
i just hit 85K on 04..530i and feels like i need new brakes.
Indy shop is quoting $1000 for Front/Rear Pad&Rotors..with brake fluid change.
Using OEM parts.
is this good deal?
if not, can anyone else suggest someone good in NJ/NY area??
Thanks

That price is rediculous. You might as well go to the dealer. I would look into aftermarket brakes with at least slotted rotors. I have the dirll and slottted with carbonbrakes setup. Alot less dust. I spent around $650 total.

$1,000 isn't bad for all 4 OEM rotors and pads, labor, AND a brake fluid flush. But I agree if you use aftermarket (which are arguable better) then the cost should be less.

is this good deal?
$169 for a pair of OEM rear rotors
$113 for front pads
$93 for rear pads
=====
$581 + shipping
Another ~$319 for brake fluid flush, sensors, shop supplies, and labor? $1K Sounds pretty good to me!

On the other hand, $1K is a lot for brakes... Do the rotors really need to be replaced, or are they OK, or can they be re-surfaced? Do the sensors need to be replaced?
I regularly check my cars' brakes. If the pads are getting towards thin and the rotors look good, then I just replace the pads.

Do you necessarily need to do all rotors and pads during an exchange? It's your front pads that are probably worn. Just get new front pads and swap them out yourself.

I do not feel the need to change out rotors with the amount of miles you have. You cannot resurface the rotors. I just changes all for of my pads with advance auto parts pads gold on the rears and premium on the front. 70 for the front and $45 for the rear. Bout sencors online $11 each. Sprayed all the rotors real good with brake cleaner installed the new pads. took about an hour and a half to do all 4 and i do not have a lift. Then went for a drive to bed the new pads in. A few 60 to 0 mph heavy stops with out engaging abs with cool down time inbetween each and a few 30-0 mph stops. Total of about 10 hard braking. Make sure you dont over heat the rotors give it at leat a min or two btween tge 60mph stops. Then went to an Indy to have them exchange/bleed my brakes $80. My car stops better then it has ever stopped. Car has 70k on it now. Total about 200 bucks ! I say do it ur self !!!!
