My Ride: 2005 545i with Sport Pkg, Nav, HUD, Cold Weather Pkg, Rear Shades
I just got off the phone with the parts dept at my dealer. I did not know BMW sells pre-mounted wheel and tire winter package (They come mounted and balanced by BMW). He quoted me $462 per wheel (incl Dunlop Winter Sport M3 DSST).
Tried getting wheel covers for my summer set, but he wouldn't give them free to me
What do you guys think?? Fair price?

You may want to try these guys: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do
With free shipping, they beat Tire Rack. I just got the 17" Bayern wheels (BMW-specific) for $184 and will mount my one-season old 235/45 x 17 Continentals snows, left over from my 540i 6 spd) last year on these new wheels. I am replacing the BMW M knockoffs they sold me 7 years ago, as they are pitted/peeling pitifully, and we are no longer sure they would fit over the 545 calipers.
I can't imagine 18x8 snows being terribly effective (read: they plow more than the city does).
Cheers,
Ray Hull

My Ride: 530i 6 speed
I paid $1,100 at tirerack for 4 Dunlop Winter SP 2 and 4 alloy wheels (the el cheapo version, its winter anyway). Just put them on 10 min ago, they look pretty good to me.

My Ride: 2006 E60 530 xi six speed manual/Silver gray-auburn/18inch-style123wheels/premium sound and package/HUD/PDC/sport/coldpackage/Sirius/M-aero kit/Nav/comfortseats/shades/comfort access
tires: 245 40 18 Sottozero Pirelli winters (non runflats)
2004 RX330 Lexus - crystal white - reliable, quiet, and the "beater" car for ski trips, hauling, etc.
1995 E34 540i 6 speed black/truffle interior/alpinemp3/XMradio/M5 alloys (Many tears...sold to a fellow Boston bimmer enthusiast!)
I've been trying to figure out my winter tire/wheel combo (and my car hasn't even arrived yet!)
there is no question that I will go with the Pirelli runflat all seasons or winters after reading this article -

Nero Zero or Zottozero runflats seem quiet, have good traction, not too harsh, and, they are runflats!
Tirerack tells me that they will start selling these soon -
