My Ride: 2005 BMW 550i
Hi everybody. I am quite new to this board and have been following the posts regularly. I used to post a lot myself on the Bimmer.org (Roadfly.com) E34 & E39 message boards. I have searched this board and pretty much found answers to all the questions I've had regarding my 550i. At the moment I am looking at fitting the E60 external video interface module (or something similiar) as listed on TVandNAV2go.com. Unfortunately they don't want to export this item to my country (South Africa) and even if they did, it would have been a very costly affair due to our currency exchange rate and customs duties. I therefore had to look at other options available to me, and was wondering if one of you reading this could maybe offer some info or advise. Has anybody seen the interface module or bought the unit for the E60 that's being listed on CarInterface.com. They are based in Taiwan. I will be in Hong Kong on business from the 7th to the 15th of July 2007 and would like to know if anyone of you maybe know of a retailer there that would sell these or something similiar. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to go into mainland China or Taiwan to do some sourcing. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hi nmsmith,
I looked at both of these sites and couldn't see any prices. Am I missing something, or do you have to enquire about each product you are interested in?
Thanks
Lancaster

Hi Lancaster
No, they don't show the prices. The first site you must phone for a price and the 2nd one is actually a manufacturer of the product, so I doubt if they would sell directly to the public. I've already emailed the 2nd one to get some retail outlet info as to where we can buy these units that they are manufacturing, but as yet have had no reply from them yet. The 1st site said that they did not export to my country. (being South Africa)

vishwen, I bought a couple of the BMW ACM unit from Germany and am working with my530i (Fred) to get it install in our 545i & 550, do you know if the ACM modules from Europe would work on on U.S. spec E60? The part # is: 6550 0 431 544... One thing I just realized from looking at the outside label is the 'PAL4' does that have anything to do with the PAL/NTSC spec?

Another thing to look into is the MOST interface. It basically mimicks the TV module in the car. But the best part is you then view the video like the OEM TV within split screen etc. There are a lot of sellers on ebay that sell this now. You just need to either replace your connect this to your TV module or if you don't have one you need to get BMW to enable the TV function on your car after you install this module.
