BMW to begin offering aftermarket modifications
I just heard from my service advisor that BMW will start offering aftermarket upgrades to existing models beginning in the next few months. The tuning should eventually apply to the entire product line. Evidently they have seen a lot of money going to Dinan, and would like to get in on some of the action. I consider this SA an extremely reliable source.
Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Not me but I would be interested in getting such from a dealer. I may drop a dime on my SA and see what he has to say.
If this is true that would be awesome
I know Mercedes did the same thing years ago when they were noticing a lot of their customers tuning their cars with AMG parts. Mercedes decided to buy the company and now offer their customers the AMG option, smart move for them. Of course they had to tone down on some of the AMG mods to keep it from looking so drastic from factory stock.

Well, the word that I got from my SA was that they would soon be a Dinan approved installer. Nothing beyond that.

Maybe BMW will buy Dinan.
I'd be pretty surpised at that. Though lots of guys here think they hung the moon, there are a good many BMW retailers and shops that are just as happy to be over them. Too mnay issues with products not working, and software related glitches too. Those guys do have some nice products, but there's got to be too many question makrs for them to take that on. If the factory is going to do anything--and I doubt they are--it would be more along the lines of Honda and Nissan's program, mostly suspension/ aero/ wheels, and they've already got a good bit of that. Performance tuning is just too complicated and out of the realm for a manufacturer in the US marketplace.
