Hey guys

I happened to be surfing around on the bmw site and noticed that they now have lci tail lights and headlights listed as accessories for cars built from march 2005 to March 2007. Also noticed that they sell oem black out grilles and smoked taillights.

They've had that listed for some time now. But I consider that borderline mis-selling - they don't give you the whole picture i.e. nowhere does it say you must buy both the head and the tail-lights and you need a cableset and you may need a new LCM and you must have hours of installation and programming.

But they do this alot, I remember buying the Voice Input Retrofit kit for ?50 and only then did I realise it would cost a lot more to get that installed and working. Ofcourse I got it done dirt cheap but today its still listed for ?50 but nowhere does it mention the fact that BMW will charge you an additional ?200 for an Order Code and then installation and programming.

my dealer wants $98.50 for each grille (ie. one left and one right)! So that would be $197 for a black grille that is a special order from Germany that would take 2-3 weeks for delivery. HUH?

Trinity will hook you up for much less!

BMW here offered (or still offers AFAIK) a LCI light upgrade for the E60 - front and rear lights. The cost starts at about 5700 Euros for all parts and coding, installed (E61 is more).

For shits and giggles, I asked about this retrofit at my service department. No one there was even interested! Seems that they were not too thrilled about this even being offered. When I asked about the installation time, I was told at least one day, probably more.

ouch sorry guys didn't realize this was looked into already and that the cost was so outrageous, and also the misleading info.

As a side note does anyone here have that CF front lip they offer?

I think that you mean the two front splitters for the M-Technic bumper?

PN:

51 19 0 412 953 (left CF part, M-Technic, front bumper)
51 19 0 412 952 (right CF part, M-Technic, front bumper)

These are on my mod list... haven't pulled the trigger yet.

There are a couple of guys here that have them on their cars. Others have bought the AC Schnitzer version, which are a bit bigger.

AFAIK, those are the only remaining exterior CF parts that BMW sells for the E60/61.
