So I have the usb/aux input in my center console so I decided to get the ipod adapter and make use of it. I think to myself , well how much can it be? So I take a drive to the dealer only to be told that the adapter is 130 friggin dollars for a wire! So I jump om my blackberry and google it and see it selling BRAND NEW on amazon.com for $22.99 with FREE SHIPPING at that, ordered it right there on the spot, it came in three days, plugged it in and I'm up and running with full idrive/steering wheel display and control, saving a whopping 83% over what BMW wants to charge. How do they get away with this?

Seller is: Uneeksupplies or search BMW Ipod Adapter
This is the EXACT same thing that BMW sells. Mine is currently in my car, works perfectly, charges the ipod, gives you idrive and steering wheel control and the sound is crisp and clear!

as long as the part #'s match up and it's OEM, good to go...if it's not OEM: I think the headaches come if something goes wrong and you need something repaired under warranty, then the mark up is something you wished you paid....hopefully this doesn't happen tho...

if a simple wire can mess up the idrive system, then there's something wrong with BMW. All wires work the same. Except if it lasts as long as OEM but for under $25, evn if u have to buy one every 2 years, ur still in the money

My friend bought his from BMW and side by side, I can't tell the difference, if there even is one...it's just a USB/headphone connection with an iPod connector on the other end. I know that BMW has a huge markup over other OEM suppliers such a pelican parts or whatever but $130 plus tax compared to a flat $22.99 is just crazy.

I have an '07 with the AUX input on the end of the center console. Are you saying that if I get the connecting wire from Amazon I don't have to have the programing done at the dealer for the iDrive screen and the steering wheel controls to work?

No, if you only have the single aux input then the Y adapter isn't for you. You must have the combo aux/usb input in order to use the Y adapter.
