No, not even close. That JB3 is like a raped ape and just screams. I had one on my 335 and I was totally blown away by the performance and how much raw power it delivered. You got hidden power in that turbo setup. However, the weakest link in the x35's are the injectors and HPFP.

This works for all N52 engines, including the 530i/530xi. It is omitted from this particular list for whatever reason, but it is plug and play for ALL N52s.

I have it. I love it! I disconnected the battery before installing. I was initially hesitant to do it myself, but once I made sure I understood the instructions and once I got the ECU cover off, there's no turning back.

Its really so much more than any hp gain, which is nice but its the way it revs and utilizes the gears in DS mode. The kickdown is so fast and at a fraction of the touch to thepedal and it just makes the gearbox perform how it should or maybe like it would if a true sport button existed-A true testament to this is that even in D mode you can actually drive and be able to tap the pedal and kick down and go. Without hte bms I literally could not tolerate D mode-this engine is not meant to live at 1.5-2k rpms.

One note on the install-for one it is not "easy" I found it quite tedious but yes not difficult. One thing to watch out for, you have to replace multiple pins and sometimes the colors on the install guide did not match up-so stricly follow the number of the pin you are replacing-it lists both numbers and colors-youll see when you start.

Also do NOT remove multiple pins at a time. Remove and replace one at a time-you run into 2 points during the install where there are two identical color wires and if both are out you have no clue which is which-I almost did this but randomly caught it by a fluke of the wire getting stuck near the pin it came out of. Just take our time, unplug the battery and make sure all the pins are snapped in tight and the male-female connections you make are secure with electrical tape.

One time is I used 3m self adhesive tape to secure the box in the plastic container that you have your DME that you access so it doesnt shake around-otherwise it will rattle around

Again, thanks for all the details Diamond.

My next mods will indeed be the BMS Power Box and RPI scoop/filter upgrade

Guys, if anyone is interested, I bought the power box a couple of months ago only to get into the installation process and realize that it is not compatible with 2004-2005 E60. Since the manufacture has a 14 day return policy I'm stuck with it so make me an offer.

Right, it is only compatible with the N52 2006+ 5 series engine. You have an earlier M52.
