What are peoples comments on this setup
as opposed to the BMC filter change only?

I doubt there would be much difference

I heard that actually reduces power due to heat soak...has power when the hood is open (cold air) but when the hood is closed, it sucks the heated surrounding air...I think Trinity Autosport took this out of their inventory for that reason. I maybe wrong. Hopefully others can chime in.

There was a recall a last year due to the power loss caused by heat soak. if you use the search button you will find that there are many threads regarding the afe intake. If lamborghini, ferrari, porsche, amg, M etc thought that the cone air filter design would be better why wouldn't they just come that way from the beginning?

I just sold my afe intake coz of power loss. My 550 had great sound but bad response. Next time, i'll do research before i do mods.

Your best bet is with a bmc airfilter with stock airbox and a rpi scoop.
