i've had both -- started with black then changed to red
When I had black, you didn't even notice ... couldn't tell unless i said "hey look...i painted my calipers"
Currently, I have red calipers and black hubs and it looks nice ... good contrast ... i agree the calipers aren't much to look at but unless right on top of the car there is a real nice contrast look.
that being said i do have a black car and black wheels -- so i've only got 2 colors going on....white with red AND black might be tooo much
