Agree. I went with the CF one's on my current car (even though it's not black) and I love it. And when you add up the cost of the black kidney grills and the paint job for the surrounds, you're looking at the same cost as the CF ones. Good call, FP.
Do you have pics?

Interesting...CF. Any pics? Where did you get them from? My mirrors are pretty shot from highway miles and I jsut saw CF mirror covers on ebay...I wonder what the combo would look like.

I left mine matte black. I like the subtle contrast. I think when the surrounds match the car the kidney tends to blend into the car and it looks like a hole when you get a few feet back. The matte lends definition to the grille and preserves the BMW design queue of two kidney grilles. I noticed with black on black when you get far from the car you lose the sense that it is a BMW. I used to be able to tell my car was a BMW from way across the parking lot based on the kidney grilles. Now that there is limited contrast due to the lack of chrome against black it is harder to tell at greater distances.

Interesting point...that's the only reason I would leave my chrome grills, because it helps define the car. Well now I'm torn! It looks like I'll start with matte and see what happens...

Any close-ups with all matte and a black bumper? Thanks...

I would order them from Trinity, as they already come in matte black. If you want the surrounds glossy like Knightcom, take them to a body shop and have the outsides painted.

On my 2007 Jet Black 530, I went with the matte black look and liked the contrast. Here's a picture of my old car:

I recently looking into doing this and saw that Trinity now supply matte black AND painted grills

Mine are paint matched jet black.

Personally, I didn't like the matte black much when I put them on. I think the paint matched looks much, much nicer.....

I was in two minds to keep the chrome or paint them black.. so i decided to order some matt black grills from beemabuild if they didnt look any good i could change them back to stock. Now i'm converted.. black looks awesome and so mean.. no chance of goin back to the chrome. Probably sell the chrome grills on fleabay......

I left my Trinty grilles matte black, but mixed it up a bit by popping out the matte black slats and re-using the OE chrome/ black slats.

Need to get a better outside shot...but you get the idea here...

Thanks......adds a little contrast. Too much black when left all matte black on a black car in my opinion.
I'll snap some outside shots tomorrow, and post them up.......
