My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you dare to mount a bike rack to the E60? I have a 2004 E60 530i that needs a bike rack, probably a Trunk mount... I was wondering what your experiences with bike racks are for the E60... Is it sinful to want to put a bike rack on the E60? :-)

Kind regards,
Jay

Take a look at pages 14 and 15 of the following accessories catalog:

No need to trunk mount anything...

I have the BMW roof mount rack and bike carriers. The system is great, doesn't leave a scratch. Don't worry about the image thing. Being athletic and in shape always makes for a good image.

How does the roof rack attach to the car? Does it have the clips that go inside the top of the doors? I had a roof rack on my E46 3 series and it bolted into hidden slots in the roof. That worked great.

You can also get a BMW bike rack that sits on your towbar (if you have one) - at least you can get this in Europe for sure. The BMW towbar is removable (see my album - link in my sig - for what the car looks like with it stowed away), and the bike rack sits on the towbar, so no trunk mounting at all. See page 5 of the attached file (in Dutch only, I'm afraid, but it should give you a good idea of it). This rack also tilts backwards, allowing you to use your trunk while it's there with bikes on it.
