so you had lifter work done before? oil could have entered the cooling system when your cylinder head was pulled off.

Coolant runs through the block So no worry of coolant entering the block. Coolant can mix with oil and lubricate lifters, valves etc with an oil/coolant mix which isnt a huge deal. But yes not good and not a good outcome. Looking at 6k plus of engine work to solve potential problems if the mixture occured. And it sounds like you did forsure have mixture. Sorry man hope you have aftermarket warranty..

No warranty. How'd you come up with a 6k #? A n54 is 5k on ebay...

so what? Fixing something is often more expensive than just getting a new one.

Plus you couldnt put an n54 in your car without a crapload of other mods, wiring harness, tranny wont handle the torque, ECU etc etc.

U could get a new n52 but the cost of pulling the engine and installing everything would put you well over 5k. Like I said-hope you have a solid warranty

Why cant the transmission handle it? The automatic 6 speed is the same in the 535i/528i? If you get the engine for 5k how much $$ to put it in?

Well, guys, looks like no new engine will be needed. While there's still a minute chance that some engine problem exists, the oil analysis came back great!

"...You mentioned you suspect antifreeze contamination in the oil from your BMW. If it were present, we'd likely be seeing high levels of potassium and sodium. Instead both read low. (There are usually traces of both present, and that's normal.) Wear continues to look great..."

I'd rather go for an S62 though! or an S65!!! But no need, looks like - next car I'm getting will have a bigger engine though. For sure

I have a manual. That said, I don't know whether it would or wouldn't - haven't done research on that.

Ok Vladdy, no new engine is a good thing, but what's the prognosis? Is your car gonna be alive soon? Is it gonna break the bank?
