You don't want a laser detector then... they only tell you when you've been caught.

If you want a radar detector you'll get lots of fan fare about passport and V1. Lots of people like the V1 because of the directional indicator from which direction the radar is coming from. Others like the passport 9500i because of the learning false positives.

You're best bet is to find out what the LEO's use in your area. In my area they are using LTI Ultralyte products and Ka on the rural roads. Once you know your enemy it is much easier to protect yourself!

I'd suggest saving up for a LIDAR jammer. Laser interceptor or Blinder. The lidar jammer works by sending false readings back to the LEO that tagged you with laser, alerting you that you've been tagged, and then allowing you to slow down and turn off the jammer so that the LEO _can_ get a reading with the laser again at a "normal" speed.

The V1 gets my vote

If you have a fatter wallet than most, you should look into the full Escort 9500ci setup

+1. A laser detector is just a "ticket notification device".

I've had the Escort SRX (built-in radar detector and laser jammers) for two years. Very happy with it. There's a newer version that looks even better.
