Thanks kscarrol,
My question is whether/not I can tap into the integrated antenna for my XM radio.? Then if I can connect the power to the car system and the Aux In, I can just "plug in" the XM2GO into the car base unit without any wires being visible...
Thanks for your thoughts.? I know this question requires some definitive knowledge of the internals of the satellite system, do you have a suggestion where I can go to ask this question?
I really like the portable nature of the XM2GO, but when I'm in my car I want it to be as integrated as I can make it...
Regards,
Mark

Sorry Mark, misunderstood your question. Not a technical guy, but I recall someone once describing how XM and Sirius antennas were tuned to pick up specific different frequencies and could not be interchanged. But I'm no expert, good luck.
The two Sat Radio systems are very close in frequency
Sirius uses 2320 - 2332.5Mhz
XM uses 2332.5 - 2345
Antenna for Sirius would work for XM and vice versa.
Only question would be compatibility of connectors in chosen XM unit and E60 antenna lead. But good install shop can make that happen.

Cobradav,
Thank you for the really informed input. How would you recommend I proceed to identify a good shop?
I have the portable XM2GO which has an incar base unit I can mount. There are 3 integration points, the power, the antenna and the line-out (into Aux-in).
Based on your input regarding the shark fin, I THINK the base unit can be "completely" integrated into the car professionally if you will. Then I can just pop-in my hand-held unit and enjoy the XM!
If you have a shop that you think is top-notch locally, they may know someone in the Baltimore-Washington area. Or if you have some other leads I can follow---all is appreciated. I know a lot of people on this board and others would benefit from this...
Thanks again!

I have a list here of recommended installers for built in radar/laser systems. I do not know any of them but a couple mention XM systems on their web sites.
Name Address City Phone
Sound Solutions 6630 Baltimore National Pike Catonsville (410) 788-0611
Audio Connection 8037 E. Ritchie Hwy. Pasadena (410) 768-1580
Audio Connection 6470 Dobbin Center Way Columbia (410) 730-5545
Audio Connection 1735 East Joppa Road Baltimore (410) 661-1580
Sound Solutions 1226 Bel Air Rd. Bel Air (410) 803-2898
Automotive Essentials 12224 Parklawn Dr Rockville (301) 231-5444
Myer-Emco 2 Bureau Dr # B Gaithersburg (301) 208-2100
Also check your more current yellow pages for Audio/alarm installers - may be more current. ALso check your BMW dealer and see if they have recommendations for aftermarket installers or have someone they deal with. One of these may have more insight to the E60 iDrive platform.
Good Luck
