There is an AUX Input that can be retrofitted.
A lot of us have it installed allready and it works perfect. Also some ppl in the US.

Well I just got an email back from BMWNA who said that the adaptor is not available. Very confusing and frustrating.

dr.wu - At lot of us who got this successfully installed in the US went though similar initial experiences with the dealer. Have your dealer call the Service Department of Autobahn Motocar BMW at 800-433-5602 and ask them how they ordered it for a 545i a month ago. Maybe my dealer ordered more than 1 and can ship one to you or your dealer.

This may sound like a dumb question but is the connector for the input a mini jack type or a RCA type. I'm having one installed in my 545 at the end of next week and I want to know what kind of cable to buy. Also will the glove box close with the cable sticking out of it so I can have my ipod within reach.

its a mini jack. You would have to go to radio shack or best buy to get a rca connector

It is independent of SIRIUS (Sat) radio. Works with or without.

I am getting a conflicting story from my dealer also. They tell me that there is an AUX input available, but not for my car with the Logic 7 and CD Changer in the Glove box. Can anyone else confirm this thanks.

Unless your dealer can't wire it properly. j/k I have it installed, but still triing to work out why no sound. Based on the research on this board, probably wrong wiring. Back to the dealer.

Ive been looking at getting a carpc into my e60, now this aux port is needed for sound, so i asked the local dealer how much for the aux port and was told ?300. The strangest part is the cable only costs ?40, have any of you guys had the same problem with the dealers?

Hello, thanks for the PDF. Ive purchased this AUX Input and have tried the install my self however I've been unsuccessful. I've been under the impression that the existing X13813 plug gets replace it with the AUX plug (which is an exact fit). Removing the existing X13813 plug eliminated the subs under the seats and rear speakers only the front speakers worked.
I read on another forum that the harness to the AUX Input had to be cut and spliced in the the factory harness witch made me very uncomfortable in doing so I replaced the original plug and put the dash back together then call it quits.

After reading the this PDF again over and over, it seems that what needs to be done is to extract the pins (wires) from the AUX Input plug and insert them into the pin location on the existing factory plug as instructed in the PDF.

My question is has anyone purchased this AUX Input and installed it successfully? I really don't want to take my dash apart again if the pin extraction method doesn't work.

Thanks
