Hey guys I have a 2004 525i and the previous owner said she installed the auxiliary part inside the glove compartment. The problem is that I don't know how to create the option in my iDrive. Does anyone know what I would need to program that option in my iDrive computer. Would I have to take it to BMW to get it program or coded? What are my options? Thank you

I'm not quite sure what you mean by menu system. If you're asking whether I've checked my idrive's entertainment option I have.

Do you know what tools I would need and if there is a DIY guide out there?

On another topic, do you know if they use to manufacture 525i with 300hp? http://losangeles.craigslist.org/ant...058231907.html <-- I'm not sure if this is real or not.

tools are a laptop a program called ncs expert and an obd cable to connect the car to the computer. it would probably be cheaper to just pay someone whom is already set up with the proper tools and know how to do it for you if thats all you want to get coded on you car, if not then maybe it might be worth the time, effort and cost to read gather and learn how to do it.

if you want more info and to get a better idea of what is involved with coding your own car check out bmwcoding.com signup and visit the beginners lounge they will answer all questions and provide the tools you need to start coding yourself.

what I don't understand is why would the previous owner of your car have it installed but never programmed did she not use it??

lastly I never heard of no 300hp 525 but unless its the 2012 model but then again i could be wrong..

If the AUX was programmed in then it should be in the Entertainment section, where you see FM, CD, DVD etc, you should see an AUX option on the top too. Unless the AUX in the glove is part of an aftermarket interface like the Dension etc in which case you need to look up the manual.

I am tickled when I read ads that say they have to upsize from a E60 because of baby. In our household we are holding on to the E60 because of babies. Once they get out of car seats and prams we'll be in something smaller.
