I recently had an aux input installed in my 2004 E60. I am using it to play MP3's from my Palmone Treo 650 and to use my phone handsfree. However, the volume coming from the aux audio input is noticably lower than from the fm radio or cd player. Even if I turn the output of my Treo 650 all the way up it still isn't uncomfortably loud. It does sound clear though. Also, if I run my Treo through my monster FM modulator it is much louder than through the aux input so I don't think it's my Treo. Do you think it is wired incorrectly or should I try some kind of preamp to get it louder that way? I don't want to mess up my head unit by overloading the input. Thanks.

Output signal from Your Treo is less than from original system. Modulator goes through FM radio so it gives out same signal level than other radio chanels. If You want it to be louder You can use preamp.

I remember that someone had same problem and he mentioned some preamp for iPod and similar. Try Search.

I think there is a Belkin adapter, which also acts as a charger, and I believe it has pre-amp control.

[/quote]Unfortunately I'm trying to do this with a Treo 650 not an Ipod so I don't think the Belkin adapter is an option. Thanks though.

I assume u have ensured u r using a stereo jack and not mono. That can give u lower volume symptom as well.
