What a run-around. I have an 05' 530i. Some people say there is an AUX input under the armrest console. Some dealers wanted $300+ to install an AUX input in the glovebox saying it takes several hours labor + a $75 part. Is there not an adapter for the CD change to AUX available yet? Will there be one in the future? Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Those that make that claim are confusing the E90 (new 3 series) with the 5 series. Yes the E90 does indeed have Aux already in from the factory in the center console somewhere (I have not looked but it is in all the brochures). No, the E60 does not have it built in. E60 may never have it factory installed. But it is a retrofit as Stream has shown you. And average price should run below $200. YOu can even purchase the kit from a good BMW discount dealer on the web such as Pacific, Circle or Princeton and then turn it over to dealer to install. Even been some DIY, but not recommended. But no matter how installed, must get to dealer to have iDrive coded to recognize the additional input source.

I Have a car on order waiting for delivery. I understand that it has to be programed at the dealer(latest software)anyway. Can the Aux. input be activated without it being connedted? Can I install the Aux. myself afterwords?

Don't know directly. What I did was fax the retrofit kit info to my sales consultant about a month befoer scheduled delivery, he ordered and had it installed prior to my picking up car. Only added an hour or so to their new car processing and he had the cost kinda buried with other things so I think a may have avoided some labor costs

Right I can tell you that the E90 does have it as a standard. Another thing that makes me mad... $40 part (yes its really only $40) I think its the same as a 3 series AUX and the same as a MINI AUX part.) and they wont even give it to us E60 owners but on a lower end 325 it comes standard!
