Nope, there's no place to attach the paddles onto the steering wheel (not only that the inside wiring/electronic too).

Thanks Anyone know if it is possible to avoid replacing our "sport" wheel and retrofiting THAT wheel for shifters (then adding the retrofit cable)? Otherwise, purchasing an 08 or m5 wheel, a new airbag, and the retrofit cable gets pretty spendy!

So you have to buy the "base" anyway...it's up to you if you want an M5 or the M-sport wheel, because the airbag fits all (as far as I know), but there were some restrictions I'm not very aware about (like LCI compatibility and such, steering wheel heating and so on)

If you do a search on this Forum you will find several Forum members that did this mod including me
+1 - including me..

no need to see other forums links when we have the best info on ours

"search" is still the most underused tool...

Yup!

I upgraded to SMG Sport steering wheel w/ paddle shifter and uses member my530i kit to interface w/ the Steptronic auto.

Depending on your car built date if after Sep. 2005 you maybe able to use '08 steering wheel 'cuz sinced then the back of the steering wheel has different design.
Hi, BlaSTiWi ,
Sorry to ask you a question about the SMG or M5 steeering wheel with paddle shifer .....
I have 2007/07 production E60LCI with regular sport steering wheel ( Roung airbag ) and I would like to change to SMG or M5 steeering wheel with paddle shifer and get the function of the paddle shifter ..... Do you know what I can do for it ???

Thanks

Kent
