Hi,

I finally took delivery of the '05 530iM last night and am loving the car!

I was checking out the OEM speaker setup, and noticed it only has one speaker grill under the passenger seat. Nothing under the driver's seat?!

It has a 6-CD stacker in the glove box too.

Is this considered a "base stereo" system?

I always thought all the 5 series cars had the two 8" woofers under the front seats!?

Looks like it has the usual OEM 4" components, and rear parcel shelf speakers, and ONE speaker under the passenger seat

There is also (what looks like) one speaker grill in the top, centre of the dash.

What sort of stereo setup is this?

should be as follows best to my knowledge:-

US Hi-fi system, 2 mid range in the front doors, 2 tweeters in the front doors, 2 mid range under front seats, 2 mid range and 2 tweeters on the rear shelf and a small amp in the boot (trunk).
Euro base system. 2 mid range in the front doors, 2 mid range on the rear shelf, 2 mid range under the front seats.
US and Euro Logic7, 2 mid range and 2 tweeters in the front doors, 2 mid range in the rear doors, 2 bass under the front seats, 2 mid range and 2 tweeters on the rear shelf, 1 mid range in the dash board and a large
450w amp in the boot (trunk).
Euro individual same as Logic7 except 2 more tweeters in the rear doors and 1 tweeters in the dash and an 800w amp in the boot (trunk).

Where are you located?, that's an odd setup.

I'm in Australia. I *think* our cars are comparable to the Euro-spec 5 series?!

OK, my mistake!

There are two grills under the front seats, so it seems my car does have the dual woofers

Where is the amp in the trunk normally? Left or right side? Obviously behind the trimming?

Just want to check if mine has one

if it has an amp it will be on the left side clamped to the wheel well, the bluetooth module is there too. If you have the base system the speakers under the seats are not sub woofers but larger mid range.

Thanks. Yep, my car has the bluetooth option too. I will check out the wheel well.

When you say larger mid range, do you mean the 8" woofers?

8" woofers as far as I know. Drop in replacements are the SWS-8 or Hertz Space8 woofers.

Real oem bass speakers

check out this link, shows the floor speakers, the subs on the standard system are little more than mid range speakers and are not true sub harmonic bass speakers.
