![Question](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a 13.5" Jl w7, 1000/1 JL amp, and a 10 farad cap. My voltage fluctuates and when bass hits hard it gets down to 8-9 volts and amp shuts off. Obviously the alternator can not keep up with the amp's need for power. What should i do, get a H.O. alternator or a BatCAP. Where can i get a HO alternator and/or what Batcap would i need?

bobbyt-yea I wouldn't think a 1000w amp would cause issues but this JL 1000/1 is known for sucking up serious power, not so efficient as other class D amps
acuteperformance- I was reading up on BatCaps and it seems like that might do the trick, not sure though. Which one should i get for my system, 300,400,800?

From my experience and knowledge about car stereo
i would replace any alternators, only thing i would do though is get bigger cap if not enough then get another one.
that should fix the problem. after all thats what the caps are for![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
hope this helps

are you running a good name brand cap? some of the cheaper ones claim 10 farad but never store that kind of power.
i have a 5 farad alumapro which are the best caps out. i used to run my orion 1200D monoblock at 80% throttle at 2 ohms (about 725watts) on my previous car and i never had any issues which dimming lights or voltage.
