Ok so Ive searched for audi R8 style led lights and not been able to find a DIY on it.

Ive found out :-

* Many people dont like it (which is fine, everyone has their own opinions)
* It will (might) flag error codes

My question is regarding the second point. Ive managed to source some nice LEDs but dont want to put it in if they will flag error codes. Does anyone know if this will happen and/or if they can be erased if they come up ?

Thanks

I agreed with those 2 points.

One way to eliminate error is to add a resistor to the current as LED consumes less power than regular bulbs. GL

Any more details on this resistor please ? so If I put the led lights then a resistor and then a fuse (for safety) ... it should be fine. Hmm, that might work !

I will put up a DIY if I can get mine to work

Thanks

I have also now found out that I might need 50 ohm, 10 watt, 10% tolerance resistor.

Also, the reason for a resistor has been explained by Bruce:-

The D in LED stands for Diode and so the Ohm's law rule doesn't completely apply here. Basically the resistor is required to draw current from the LCM because it uses that fact to 'sense' if the bulbs is working. Draw too much and it think there is a short, draw too little and it thinks there is something wrong. In the case of the LED set-up the LED hardly drawing any current from the LCM and hence you need a resistor added to stop the LCM from raising an Error.

Getting there slowly

I did, but only to ask him to have a look at this thread. This is because I am sure someone else will benefit from the discussion ...
