I am an American living in Taiwan and here you only have a choice of two engines for the Touring model, the 525 and the 545. The 525iT costs almost US$90,000 with all of the import taxes and the 545iT costs US$130,000 with all of the special import taxes for cars in Taiwan.

So of course I am going for the 525iT not the 545iT. I would love the 530, but that would most likely cost about US$115,000 if they imported it.

Now, what can I do that won't void my warranty to make a 525 a little faster, short of losing some of my own weight and leaving the wife at home on the fun drives? FYI, I currently drive an X5 3.0 and I feel it is quite quick and peppy and fast enough even though on paper is about a full second slower to 100kpm (~60mph) than the 525. Drove a 530 sedan the other day and it was just right!

If power was most important to you, you should have gotten the 545. I don't think they make enginr mods for the 525. You can get a K&N filter, which may give you like 5hp. B&B doesn't even make a performance exhaust for the 525, only the 530 and 545. And superchargers that are out will only be available for the 530 and 545. Go figure.

The sad and true story is: No you cannot or actually there no idea to trim a non-turbo gasoline engine!

I would also fancy the 530i (for + ? 7,000) but the fact is, that you'll never be satisfied.

Maybe the 550i would do the job???
