Close to pulling the trigger on some all season tires for my OEM m5 wheels. Snows here maybe once or so a season so I do not want a snow (specific) tires. I have read good things but would really like feedback on those running 18 or 19? tires. How do they handle and look?

Thanks,

Vince

Yessir!

I had to take off the OEM Dunlops when I was in Germany due to their winter driving laws. The Pirellis were outstanding in light snow. Didn't see any heavy snow before I moved back to the states so I coudn't try em in those conditions.

I've put a little over 20k miles on em and there's still plenty of tread left. I think I paid a little over $800 for the set from Tire Rack (shipping included).

I was in the market for A/S tires last year and after researching Tire-racks various tests they ranked well only because of dry performance so if you get hardly any snow they are probably fine. The eagle F1's from goodyear did the best all around last time I checked-not sure what else is out now. The micheline pilot sport a/s are a waste of money-very expensive for crappy performance in the dry and wet.

My eagle f1's were great, stiff carbon fiber sidewalls had great turn ins and cornering, were awesome in the snow and sleet and great in the dry.

I am now using General Exclaim UHP's which are technically an M/S rated tire-Did fine in them at the tail end of winter last year. Problem is not many tires A/S come in 275/245 19 inches-so its these or the michelins unfortunately adn these are much cheaper and actually have good dry performance

I had a set on my '01 740 Sport. Decent highway tire, quiet, good wet/dry & light snow traction. Breakaway was gentle and without a lot of noise. Tread life was very good. That said, they rode a little soft for my tastes. If you're looking for a sporty-handling tire I'd look elsewhere - maybe one of the newer Bridgestones.

If price is a consideration, I've put General UHP non-rtf's on my 18" and find them pretty decent. Check TireRack.com thru the link in my signature to price shop and comparison reviews. If you buy through the link you'll pick up an additional 4% rebate.
