I want to change the carpet since it is worn out, stained, and doesn't look good at all. I tried to have it professionally cleaned but it didn't make it look any better. Any input?

Since you're planning to do this anyway, my advice is to look into aftermarket shops - I'm guessing you can get much better than OEM carpet. And it is likely to still be less expensive than OEM.

I've seen people do this on the e46 forums, there are aftermarket companies that make fitted carpets for cars online. Also you may want to try carpet paint it will fix the stains if your carpet isn't really worn that bad.
