Folks,
Just checking on this and would appreciate if I got this wrong, hope the forum can help me becuase I'm getting conflicting information from the dealers:
The reward for being an "Early adopters" of the E60 with an MY03 or MY04 model with the following spec: CD changer, No Nav, Business Radio is currently the following:
1) You can't ever get MP3 working on the dash CD, because the early release controller doesnt support it and we didn't choose PROF radio. No fix for this..just tough luck
2) Despite having the CD changer installed the IPOD interface won't work becuase it is only supported on 03/05 models or later.
3) There is only hearsay that BMW might fix 2) in a future release, no documentation anywhere
4) None of the above are regarded as "customer issues" worth fixing, just tough luck for the customer
After buying 4 5 series in a row I'm beginning to conclude that one should stay away from any new BMW model for at least two years

I feel your pain. I have an 06/04 build and my SA at my local dealer told me it can't be done on my car. I told him I heard it's possible with a software/firmware upgrade but he said no. He didn't even mention that there might even be a possibility of that in the future.

Yeah thanks, that is actually where I was coming at, my local dealer says no it won't work. I can pay an hourly rate to update the CIP in case I got lucky but the dealer assures me I won't. I'm loathed to try that as unsupported experiment if there is some remote chance BMW will make the IPOD adapter work in the future.

Does it matter if you had the car wired for Satelite Radio?
I have mine in the shop today for the vehicle maintenance check and the where going to determine whether I could get the IPOD upgrade.
