I didn't think we could fit the 10 inch screens in our cars, excellent review metro after watching I almost reached for my credit card . Dang I gotta stop coming online my wife would kill me if i spent this kinda money so recklessly.

One thing I really love about my current setup is playing spotify through my car and because my ipod is jailbroken I can use the tv out function to display album art on screen now I know you probably can't use cars controller to control apps outside of the BMW apps software but can sound from them still be heard through the car speakers I use lots of similar online music apps xm, vevo, slacker, last fm and Pandora but I know Pandora is covered , and i use some video ones too netflix slingplayer hulu. So my question is if i did want to do this retrofit and have my iPhone/ipod plugged in the armrest will sound still play through the car? And how about video content I know it will play your ipod videos but i mean the videos from other apps like slingplayer especially?

Officially the 6NR allows to manage only the apps certified by BMW and play videos stored on the iPhone.
However there is a workaround for displaying some other content on the screen in the car.
If you start playing one of the videos you have on the iPhone and then using your iPhone you start some app, e.g. YouTube it will detect an external screen connected to the iPhone and will let you use it.
This way you can also watch pictures from your iPhone using as a slideshow.
