I was told the ones on Ebay with the black insides are made in China. However, I came across these tonight :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-BMW-DFM-...044075568QQrdZ1

are these different? they are made by a company called DFM? I want to keep the 18" size for my car. so OEM won't fly.

Your only option would be to buy some kind of replica wheels if you don't want the OEM 19's. Regardless of what replica rims you find, you're always going to question their quality. Why don't you want the 19's?

You could try getting the style 135's which look very similiar and are 18's OEM. An official pic:

What types of problems have people with the "Made in China" ones experiencing?

The 135's are nice too, but seem harder to clean between the shafts... I want to keep the 18" so I don't have to buy new tires too!

I have 166 reps bought from a shop in scotland so far they are ok and IMO they have a better finish than the dull silver of the oem's
However if you want to pay BMW 4 times the price of these then go for the oem's

If I were you, I would spend the $700 or so and get the originals. Crevier or Newport BMW will do $1600. Get the originals and you won't have to worry about the quality. You already paid quite a bit for your E60 I assume so why skimp on the rims. I'm getting the originals when I get my 550, but that's just me.
