The inevitable happened last night. I took a corner too tight and did a fair amount of curb rash damage to my right rear wheel. In the past I have had rims repaired by "the rim guy" who has come to my office to fix my M3 Competition BBS wheels, and my stock M3 rims. My concern is the finish on the 166s. When I first ordered and received one with shipping damage he said to send it back as the finish is paint is very tricky.
Anyone repair one of these yet?

I park 2 feet from the curb and this still happens. Makes me feel like a ____ing idiot!

Took my car to "the rim guy" today. Unfortunately I had to drive into a building where visibility was minimal and ended up badly damaging my left front wheel on a curb that I couldn't see. I couldn't believe it! I felt like even more of an idiot. I have been so careful and now this; two major defects in less than a week. And to add insult to injury a small portion of tire was damaged in the process.

The good news is he fixed both rims for $70.00 in a matter of 45 minutes. There is about a 1 cm chunk of tire missing, but other than that all is well. The rim defects are undetectable. At least I know where I can get these rims repaired because I fear this is not the last episode.

Ouch. Ouch.
Glad you got out of it with nicely fixed up wheels for not much coin.
I know how you feel ... did the same thing to one of my 166 rims and it cost $200 to repair and repaint. The process for 166s is more detailed than with a 124 or other BMW wheels.
