My Ride: 545i
Thumbs up

I've been looking into the purchase of an exhaust for my 545i for some time and was waiting for RPI's offering (with proven gains), but since their product seems to be in limbo, I'm now looking at some other options.

Thing is, the majority of exhausts for the 545 seem to lose power. My personal philosophy on car modifications dictates that any modification that loses power shall not be considered . Other than Dinan, are there any exhausts out there that show proven gains?

So far, I've found the following testimonials:

Power loss:

B&B: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry242216
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry245962
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=242606

No change:

Any help would be appreciated

IMO, any loss or gain in hp from catback will be unnoticeable. Unless you are gonna do headers, pipes, etc just base your choice on SOUND.

Unnoticeable until you line up against a stock 545i and lose.

Your butt dyno isn't a true indicator of whether you lost power or not. RPi has dynoed a 545i with Magnaflows that showed a loss of power.

There are numerous dynos of aftermarket exhausts that caused power loss at RPi. The most infamous to date has been the Meistershaft exhaust for the M5. It caused a 30rwhp loss. The former owner of that exhaust is a member here and on M5board.

I have a Remus quads, and I felt a power loss! I think by adding the rpi scoop makes up for it
