Not bad...not bad at all. What was the down time (how long did they have your car?)
I think they had it four days and two of those days were for shipping between Turner and Diffsonline.

But did you change the gearing or just have the LSD installed? I don't understand how only going from open to LSD would make a difference in torque if not accompanied with a gear change - really. Can someone explain this to me? I understand the power to the wheels issue, and if you're always smashing it and spinning the tires then yes, I understand an increase in your launch, but if you are just driving around like most people, and occassionally hit it, how can an LSD over open affect anything in regards to power?
No change in gearing...

What you gain is the power not being taken away by the cars DSC system. You probably don't even realize when the DSC is braking a wheel or cutting fuel to control wheel spin. The DSC light will flash but it can be for just an instant if that.

Read the Quaife write up posted above, it?s true.

I would be less likely to spend the money on an LSD for a 525 or 530 because it's much harder to overcome the cars traction with the 6 cylinder motor but with the V8, definitely worth it. Plus the car drives differently, it rotates around a corner differently, like an M car. If you have never experienced a powerful LSD equipped car you need to drive one to really understand. All M cars have an LSD for a reason.

Cruising along on a daily commute the LSD does zip but launching hard off a light or at the track or zipping down a sharp on ramp it?s awesome.

Well said!

I think all 545i and 550i owners who want more performance should have that mod! it is the best mod than all DINAN, RPI, etc together. Imagine the release of a new forced induction for our V8 (hopefully near future) plus that LSD!

I think the 535i should have it too with the advantage of the turbos installed. like the 335i:

I agree, very well said. I guess I kinda get it now. I've driven an M5 before, but never to the point of spinning the tires.

So does it do away with DSC? Do you have to turn it off or what?

Yea if I had a 335 of 535 I would install an LSD.

I was wandering around the Dinan site yesterday dreaming of a potential future car. I like my 5er but don't really need the room anymore now that my kids have their own cars so I was looking at a 335i with a Dinan stage 2 tune, 384 HP and 421 lb-ft or torque... WOW. That car would need and LSD

My car is about 330 HP and 330 lb-ft of torque and I think it's damn fast, faster than anything I have owned other than my old M3. The 335 with Dinan tune would be nuts.

yes, to spin the wheels just turn off the DSC/DTC.

Do it! it is a must for 545i! I know it is pricey but totally worth! if you got the F.I., you should have LSD installed A MUST!. I bet it will be an "M5 killer"

The DSC will still work fine it just kicks in much less because the LSD is sending power to both wheels.

If you have an LSD and turn the DSC completely off you can really get the car sideways since both wheels will break loose. LOTS of fun
