I'm sorry if this subject has been talked about. I did a search and most of the treads discussed the upgrade of existing angel eyes.

Is there a way to drive around using angel eyes as my DRL. If I turn on the DRL with my idrive, it turns on the halogen bulbs. I don't want to drive around with my parking lightes on. (one click to the right) I usually have it set to auto. I noticed that in the evening, after the head lights have been on, when I turn the car off, the angel eyes do stay on. (Welcome lights?) when I open the door, the lights turn off. I was wondering if there was a way to wire the car so that I can use angel eyes as my DRL.

If it's a quick inexpensive fix I'll do it. If not, no big deal. I was just wondering if someone out there has tried it.

Thanks in advance.

Loads of questions to answer.

When you get home, if you flick the main beams the 'welcome home' will stay on for 30 secs, it can be set via the Idrive controller under Vehicle Settings. This will turn main beams on. The angels will stay on when you park, not sure why but it looks good!

No way to have angels on as DRL. You will have to flick the light switch to the first setting, this will fire the angels and rear lights. No other way of doing it.

In the Uk I turn my lights once to the left for Auto, from there it is right once to turn auto off and have no lights on. Then one more click to the right and angels only turn on. once more click right fires the xenon?s too.

Hope this helps.

Read the PDF file and check post #5 and #6 in the thread

The more expansive but easier alternative is to just go to your dealer and have it programmed.

Thanks for the reply and the tread. Man, too complicated.

I don't think the dealer can program it. I'll ask the next time I'm there.

Also describes how to set up the AE's as DRL's. I don't believe dealer can program AE's as DRL's for E60's.

Yes, follow rog's diagram and ur in the game. Just find the wire for the angel eyes. I believe nigxdoof knows which wire it is for the angel eyes. I am sure he will chime in when he comes back from vacay.
