Thanks, that does look nice close to the fender. Do you know what it looks like not lowered? Will I look like a total ass if I do not lower it?

If I order style 166 rims, will I get hassled by the installers saying that these are not the rims designed for my 535? Leaving no stone unturned...

First off, no, you won't get hassled because E60 body is an E60 body no matter your 5 series really. Second, I do know what it looks like not lowered on a NON-sport suspension. It looks like total ass is what it looks like and I have the shameful pictures to prove it. This is my car that I drove in public for about a week in before my appointment to install the springs and shocks/strut kit. By day 3 I was debating driving around with a paper bag over my head PLUS the chrome trim that just added insult to injury.

Good luck with your decision. Check my sig for my non-sport car, shadow-line trim w/ 166's - I like the way my car looks, but might add the sport suspension.

thx for all the help, i found a brand new set with tpms, centers, and 10 mile wear tire and rim set up for less than gary shipped, but its m5 offset, ill be picking it up tomorrow, will post pics (spacers, might be coming) .... thx guys

I know nothing about tires/wheels....

My car does not have the sport package.

If I were to buy a set of 166's (and that "M6 offset")
and install them on my car with appropriate tires...

Will my car look like crap because it does not have
the sport suspension? I really am hesitant to lower
the car. Had many issues with lowered cars before
in my life.

I read Howitzer's post and that kinda scared me away
from just getting the rims/tires and not lowering it.

p.s. Is the "M6 offset" an additional part you buy prior
to mounting the rims on the car or is it a measurement
that is obtained by putting on a spacer on the car before
the rims are mounted?

M5 offset (et12 / et28)
M6 offset (et12 / et17)

the (et) numbers are the measurements used to provide the distance between the outer rim and the hub... there is a post some one did regarding the offset sizing on a wiki site...

in a nutshell.
the m5 et 28 is set in from the fender
the m6 et 17 is almost flush with the fender.
meaning m6 is sticking out farther than the m5

Let me try.
M6 = 17 offset
M5 = 28 + 12mm spacer= 28-12= 16 final offset, extend 1mm extra.
Now, my question: What's the weight difference between M5 + 12mm spacer(longer bolts) and
M6, which I think has more mass to push lip out.
