I feel very confused and stupid right now.
I put a k&n air filter on my car.
When i was looking in the box, i noticed what appears to be another greyish filter on the top half.
What is this? can I take it out for better air flow or is that something i shouldn't mess with?
Thanks in advance

That is the Charcoal Filter, you don't really need it. You can take it off for some modest 1-2 HP gain from improved airflow and improve the sound of your exhaust.

Search and you'll find a great thread on this with instructions if you have the welded plastic kind. No big deal and many of us have done it-
