i have a terk xm commander fitted into my factory storage pocket (no nav) it fits percfectly and looks pretty unobtrusive, the antenna is about the size of a matchbook i have mine installed just above the front windshield at the edge of the rubber in this way it is almost completely unnoticeable cosmetically.
John, Did you install the commander yourself? Where did you connect the FM modulator to the radio antenna? If you had a shop install it, perhaps you can be so kind to give a name/contact at the shop who did the install for you, I find that the local installers haven't done a new 5 yet.

I purchased a Roady2 with a built-in wireless FM modulator to try it out and see if I even like the programming before I go through the trouble of getting it installed. The reception is decent, but audio quality is barely ok. I put the satellite antenna on the front dash, the reception is decent. Folks over at www.xmfan.com report pretty good results with the antenna on the dash -- hate the look of it on the roof, trunk lid would be the only other option.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi All,
I found this post from last August, wondering if any progress has been made to tap into the built-in antenna, I have an XM2GO radio and plan on using the AUX IN...

Any updates appreciated.

Regards,

Mark

The following post and the post right after may help explain things. If you scroll up a bit in that thread, there is a picture of the connector.

The local electronics store taps into the shark fin. There is 3 antennas there thatt the car switches back and forth with for better fm reception so it is a tricky installation...

Right, but no matter where you tap in to the diversity antenna circuit, there is an issue of what type of antenna connector the car uses...
