I know it may seem very Honda Civic....but is it possible to bypass iDrive with an aftermarket CD deck?

or have them both work at the same time?

I'm sure most people wouldn't care for this kind of thing....but I'd rather pay 250 for something like this... Aftermarket Deck to hookup my iPod/GPS instead of paying 250 for a unit and then another 250+ to get all the coding done....

i have a strong feeling this is NOT an original an idea and there must be a reason people don't do it...but i'd just like to put my suspicion to rest...
