I can most defiantly hear the waste gates at idle, but only when near a wall (echo), or if I'm out of the car towards the front of the car. Even with the windows down , I can't hear a Turbo whine, but defiantly can hear the waste gate chatter sitting in traffic.
I thought it was the AC compressor, but it would go away on throttle pick up , and still was there if the ac was off.
I did some more research , and this is what BMW has been screwing up the n54's trying to get rid of it. the DMS 29.2 > changes the way the waste gates function , Apparently no difference in Hp/ torque # 's but massive turbo lag, since the basically reversed the times when the waste gate is open at idle to get rid of the chatter. Hell it even made the front page of autoblog.com today.
I don't have a problem with the noise, but some might.
