So then everyone is happy, right?
I'm willing to settle with 80 cents on a $1, instead of total loss.

Not exactly. Joe will get store credit to purchase more aFe items. $6000+ worth of store credits. That will go unused, as he has chosen to end his dealings with aFe. aFe has effectively pawned the issue on Joe, and we've taken the bait it seems.
Here's my take on this. Granted, Trinity was the 'vendor' of sorts for this. He was able to get the cost down to <$300 for us. We were all happilly enjoying our CAI's until the dyno came out months later. Based on that dyno, we want a refund. Here's my problem. Based on the store credit scenario, Joe will be eating $6000 in used CAI's so we can get full refunds the manufacturer should provide, based on a dyno. An analogy regarding a store was used earlier. I guarantee that if you purchased an under performing PC from a retailer, and 30 days have past, you cannot collect from the retailer. The manufacturer has to resolve the issue under warranty or replace the product. In the case of recalls, the manufactuer cuts checks to their vendors under legal mandate to avoid possible sanctions or lawsuits. Before we burn a great vendor/resource for this community at the stake for this mess, we need to ask ourselves 1) Would we have been dissatisfied had the M5 dyno thread came out? 2) Are we willing to destroy a vendor because of a manufacturer issue? 3) Did we read Trinity's return policy?
What I would like to see is aFe modify the design to include a "fully enclosed molded housing(s)" as they "understand the impact of heat on performance". An effective shield that uses a robust mold that will dramatically reduce the radiated heat the CAI draws in, regardless of speed, and directly connects to the existing front cold air ram. That's something aFe should do and provide free-of charge.

I'm sure the Toy Company doesnt just issue "credit" to the company.
I think AFE should pay Trinity back in cash not freakin credit. Unless you guys want AFE credit as your refund.
Joe went out of his way to help resolve the situation with you guys and to try to get AFE to give you all a refund and yet in the end you guys want to put him out of business, when he found out about the loss in HP, he was one of the first to chime in on the forum and he also took off all the products from his website. You guys are fuckin whack...
